Error message (Expectation Failed) when submitting a tweet

description

QckTwit 0.9.5.1 (Dec 27 2008)

I've entered my Twitter login and password, and verified the information was correct using the Test button. When I attempt to submit a tweet and hit Ctrl+Enter, the message I get back is in the attached screenshot, which reads:

Error sending to Twitter
The remote server returned an error: (417) Expectation Failed.

I have verified that, with the same login information, I can post tweets via the Twitter web site.

I looked around for any logs that might have been written by QckTwit but didn't come across anything. Is there any debug information I can enable to help narrow down the cause?

OK, I just found this on the release info page for 0.9.5.1, the release I'm using.

'In this release we fix the error 417 - Expectation Failed error that Twitter suddenly started dishing out since 23rd Dec, 2008. This error was because the HttpWebRequest object in .Net almost always added HTTP header called Expect with value "100-Continue" and Twitter don't like that anymore."'

Unfortunately, I think that there must still be some instances where that 417 is not fixed.

UPDATE: OK, I finally got a QckTwit update to go through. I did get that 417 error message, with the latest build of QckTwit, earlier today. But whatever the source of the problem, it has since been cleared up. But, it is still possible under some circumstance to get that 417.
